Star-Dome Trip

Earlier this week we went to Star-dome for a field trip. While we were there we decided to go for a walk up One Tree Hill.

We walked down steep craters and up long walls of grass. With difficulty I tried to keep up with the class. I saw heaps of students struggling with their heavy bags on their backs. When I was at the edge of the crater, it was slippery and people went tumbling and rolling down.

I felt absolutely happy when I got down to the rocky crater.

Yum Ice-Cream Comets

Would you want to know what Room 15 made on Tuesday? Well room 15 made comets out of icy cold ice-cream. When I heard that we were going to make comets out of ice-cream I said " no thanks I don't want any ". I saw a 5 liter ice-cream and the flavor was chocolate.

I also saw two packets of cornet cones and a big packet of biscuits. Mr Marks grabbed all of the biscuits out of the packet, put them in a bag, with a powerful impact Mr marks smashed, crushed and bashed it on the table. Then Hope had a turn but she crushed it with the rolling-pin.

Our comets were ready to be made. Mr Marks scooped the ice-cream and we had to dunk it into the crushed up biscuits. He said to me " come and have some ice-cream ", so I went and got some. I thought it was disgusting but when I tasted it it tasted delicious.

Hungrily I slurped up my ice-cream. As I was eating it, it slowly melted through my fingers. When I walked past I looked down at the dried floor and there was heaps of crumbs from the biscuits. I went to the table and there were people standing around it because they were picking at the smashed, crushed and bashed biscuits.

Finally when every body finished their ice-cream comets we got to talk about them. The comets tasted very nice. Some people were scavenging for more.

What Wakes You Up In The Morning

When we go to sleep we sleep deeply, and then after a few hours we sleep lightly. If we sleep lightly we will wake up easily. Our brains need to rest for the next day, so we don't get tired or confused during class.

So if you want to sleep in wear something over your eyes or pull the curtains. It may help to put cotton-wool or earplugs in your ears.

The Holidays

Would you want to know what I am looking forward to be doing in the holidays? In the holidays I am going to stay up as late as I can, and draw heaps of designs on a piece of paper. I would also want to jump in my pool and stay in the pool until night time.

I like the holidays because you can do what ever you want to do but, you still have to help with the dishes and the house-work. I also like the holidays because it is days full of fun and cool things. In the holidays I would like to go somewhere cool like the movies, rainbows-end, valentines or even on a fiery to Devon-port.

I am looking forward to be getting more games for our computer. The game that we have got is called 101 Block Buster Games. This game has 101 games on it and my best one is call Little Bombers Returns.

Aussie Rules

Have you ever played a game similar to rugby? This is a game full of fun. We have been learning the skills required to play Aussie Rules.

An essential piece of equipment is a Kiwi kick ball. Laces are stitched to the ball, there were different colors on the ball.

It was unpredictable when I had to kick the ball to Doris. Megan said that we have to kick the Kiwi kick ball and try to hit either, her or Mr Marks. It was awkward. Doris drop punted the ball and unexpectedly it went way over to the right side.

So if you are able to play Aussie Rules, make sure you have the right equipment. You will notice that your skills will soon be really good.

My Brilliant RWC Logo

I like my 2011 logo because it it represents fastness and, it also represents The All Blacks. First I got my Net-book out and searched on Internet for some ideas. I went to Maori patterns and I saw a very fascinating Pattern.

I grabbed my paper and started drawing it, it was a bit hard but I kept on drawing. The reason why I had chosen that pattern was because I think it was worth drawing it. When I had finished drawing that pattern I had to look for a RWC logo, so I searched it up on Internet and I found one that was magnificent.

So I started to draw it and it turned out perfect. When I had finished that I had to go over the out-line with Indian ink.

I had to use the back of the paint-brush so that the Indian ink wont get all over the place. Finally I finished going over my stunning pattern with Indian ink, I was so proud of my self. Just then I got to paint my pattern with beautiful colors.

The beautiful colors that I painted on stunning pattern were Green, Blue, Yellow and Red. I done the boarder dark Red. When I look at my pattern now it looks so brilliant.

What I like about my pattern is that it is strong and powerful.

Cross Country

Do you know what happened on Wednesday? Well rooms One-seventeen had cross country. First we lined up and we walked down to the beach, because that is where we were going to start. The teachers got us to sit down on the wet and cold grass.year

The nine year old girls had to go first. Mr Burt took us to the starting line, we were about to run but Mr Burt changed the time table. Everyone went first but the nine year old girls had to wait.

Finally we got to run, I was nervous because there were courages runners. I heard Mr Burt say “take your marks, get set, GO!”. I ran slow at the start because, I knew I would get really tired.

When I got to the bridge I was huffing and puffing. The track was dangerous because it was slippery and there were heaps of sticks. I got to another bridge and I was almost at the finish line.

I ran as fast as I could to get to the finish line, while I was running my sister was taking photos of all the other children. Running with all my heart I past the two posts which marked the finish.

Spectacular New Zealand

The Rugby world Cup is bringing lots of tourists to New Zealand, but there is more here than just a cup!

The first people to arrive at New Zealand were the Maori people. People in New Zealand are special because, we are all multi-cultural.

There are unique animals in New Zealand. There are Tuatara’s, Fantail’s, Kiwi’s and Pukeko’s.

So if you are here to see some of the 48 World Cup Rugby games, remember to also take time out to inspect more of our stunning country.

Mesmerising Australia

It’s only a short hop skip and a jump across the Tasman Sea to Australia, but there is a world of difference in what you will find there.

Some people in Australia are multi-cultural. The first people that arrived in Australia were the Aborigine people, who are the Indigenous people of Australia.

Koala’s, Kangaroo’s and platypuses are unique animals to Australia. These animals are native to Australia. If you wanted to see a Platypus you would have to go to Australia.

The Climate in Australia is predominantly arid. Australia’s coast is tropical and very warm, it is also humid. Australia is near the equator.

So if you are fortunate enough to make the journey, you will need to allow plenty of time to explore all that Australia has to offer.

Playing Badminton

Have you ever played badminton? Every Thursdays room 15 walks to the hall to play badminton. When we went inside the hall, room 15 saw this lady which was really our coach, her name was Lorene. She is a professional player of badminton.

Lorene got us to sit down on the floor so she could tell us what or which racket we are allowed to get. Firstly she held up a very long racket and she said “if you want this racket you can come and get it”. She held up a very small racket and she said “this racket should be used by small kids until, they get the hang of it”.

Secondly she said to us “now go and get your racket”, so I rushed for the small racket. While we were getting our rackets Lorene was pulling a rubbish bin in the middle of a circle, it was not a dirty rubbish bin it was a clean rubbish bin with shuttles in it. Next she said to all of room 15 “get 1 shuttle and you are going to put it on your racket and then you are going to throw it up in the air, then gently hit it with your racket”. I heard Lorene call “SHUTTLES”, if she calls shuttles we all had to stop what we were doing and hold the shuttles.

After that we had to get 5 shuttles from the bin. Lorene said that we had to take 5 steps away from the bin, then put our shuttles down on the floor. Lorene said “you have to aim your shuttle at the bin. Then you have to push your racket towards your shuttle and try get it in the bin”. In the first round I got 2 in and every body in room 15 was competing.

Snowmen

In Dunedin People made snowmen. They put their scarfs, hats and gloves on their snowmen. They also put carrots for the nose and buttons for the eyes. Other people didn't make one or even two. But some made three or even more snowmen. Mostly people make them in a flat place so they don’t fall over on the cold and soft snow.

The First Rugby Ball

In the 1800s the first rugby ball that had been invented was made out of pig’s bladder. There were no pumps in those days, it was very unhealthy and some people didn't like the idea of putting a pigs bladder in their mouth.

A pig’s bladder stores urine. There was no standard size for a rugby ball back in those days. So instead of using a pig’s bladder to blow up a rugby ball they used a stem of a clay pipe to blow through, The old rugby ball smelled extremely smelly. In 1840 two shoe- makers made rugby balls for the local school, hand pumps had been invented so people no longer had to blow up a rugby ball by lung power.

The rugby balls today are easy to blow up. Now they can come in a variety of sizes. Rugby balls today are made out of rubber bladders. Also the rugby ball that we have now are detailed with colours and drawings, not like the old rugby ball, it was just brown when I saw a picture of it in a journal.

The picture that I drew is an dimond with Four circles. We drew it on papper just for a practice. I would want to change the backround of my picture to black. My next step is painting it on a white cotton.

Swimming Lessons At The YMCA Pools

Guess where Rooms seventeen and fifteen went? Well we went to the YMCA pools. When room fifteen heard that we were going swimming most of them said “YES”, but the rest went “OH”! When the day had come to go swimming almost everybody brought their togs including me. Then Mr Marks said that we have to go all the way to the breeze and wait there quietly so we did. Finally Miss Garden said, “if you think that you are confident and would be able to swim in the deep pool then you can go to Mr Marks”. “If you think that you are not that confident then you stay where you are sitting”. Most of the people were not that confident but Miss Garden put some of the people in the confident side anyway. Finally we got to walk all the way to the YMCA swimming pools. I was walking with Ane, Quziyah and Saadiya they are mostly my best friends. At last we got to the pools and I was so excited. I smelt the chlorine and the chemicals, then Miss Garden said that we can go and get changed in the changing rooms. When we had finished getting into our togs, Ane, Saadiya and I went to the leisure pool and we shoved our plastic bags in the cubbyhole and walked off to the showers. “Saadiya!” I said to her as I was having my shower, “lets go” so we walked as fast as we could to the leisure pool and Miss Garden got us to find a space on the side of the pool. We had to sit down and put our feet in the water. “The water feels nice and warm”, I said to Saadiya. At last Miss Garden said that we can hop in the pool and that was when I was so excited I just jumped straight in. First we had to show Miss Garden our big circles with our arms and that was because we were trying to freestyle, it was so much fun. In the pool we had to swim all the way to the other side then get out and come back around and jump back in the pool. When it was my turn I had butter-flies in my stomach but I knew I would have to concentrate. I couldn't even touch the bottom of the pool it was too deep, but I kicked off the side of the pool and swam all the way to the other side. When I made it to the end I felt tired but proud of myself. We had four turns each. We also had to do some swimming lessons by using the flutter board. Then we had to hop out of the pool and get our plastic bag and of course we had to walk to the changing rooms and get changed. When the time had come to get out of the leisure pool I didn't want to get out because it was so warm, but Miss Garden said that we had to get out. When I got out I was dripping wet and I was also freezing cold but I still went to get changed. Saadiya and I walked all the way and got changed. When I had finished getting dressed I did my hair and went to the seats to watch the other group swim. I said to Saadiya, “this day was so cool.” The thing that I really liked was trying to freestyle and the hardest thing that was so tiring was putting my head up to breath. Next when we all had finished getting changed my class and I went outside to catch some air and this other teacher was just seeing if anybody else was in the girls changing room. Finally we got everyone outside and Room fifteen started walking back to school, we got near the school gates and when we just got to class we got out our lunch and ate it while we were watching a movie about dominoes. Mr Marks said that we are going to do that on Friday and so we did.

Our Exciting Baseball Day

Every Thursday room 15 goes to the field and plays baseball with Cola. When we were on our way to baseball we were so excited that we wanted to play straight away with out practising. First we practised catching and throwing it was a little bit hard.

Finally we got to play the game, it was fun but the Cola team was bating first and the team Pepsi was fielding that was the team I am in. While we were putting the gloves on our hands the grass was really cold it was freezing like ice but we still played. The people in the team Pepsi were trying to get people out from the other team but atleast we got some people out but the rest were just to fast ,never mind we will get better at it.

Next it was our turn to be batting Asena and I were so excited to get a turn to bat. When Asena went up and I was next I felt butterfly's in my tummy I thought I was going to miss the ball it was very very freaky. When we had finished our game of baseball we were all so happy and tired. We walked all the way back to class then suddenly the bell rang and that’s when we all ran.

My A.M.F Bowling Day

In the holidays my brother, my sisters, my Dad, my Mum, my Poppa and I went to the Panmure Super Bowl, it was exciting! When we got there I thought it was closed but it wasn't. Finally
we got to the games. My mum got us heaps of tokens! You needed two people to get all the
tokens. My dad gave me some tokens and I ran straight to the games , I was so excited. I almost
dropped my tokens. I played a really hard game where you have to punch the ducks. The basket-ball game was also hard to play because the basket-balls were heavy. After that I played on another basket-ball game but the balls weren't heavy they were light. I put one token in the game Deal or No Deal but it didn’t work so I just walked away. As I was walking I realised that I had no more tokens left, so I asked my Dad for some and he kindly gave me one more token. I ran back to the games and I played the thunder game, which was my favourite game at A.M.F bowling. My dad and my poppa played pool while I played my games. I found four tokens and a one dollar coin! I used it to buy myself some lollies which were yum!. After that we went to Burger King and I had a $5.50 meal to eat. We had a short play and went back home really tired from our long day.
