Writing Test
This morning we all completed our first writing sample for 2013. I have posted it just as I wrote it in 40 minutes that we were given, so that throughout the year I will be able to look back and reflect on the progress I've made in my writing. I will post my learning goals from this soon.
I had just woke up from a wicked dream, and was about to get ready. Then went to the kitchen to see whats for lunch, suddenly from the right side of my eye I saw a newspaper lying on the table. I started reading and then discovered that there was an article about people dissapearing. I was shocked, scared, and awfully frightened. It had been 30 minutes since I had woke up "Oh no school". I then rushed into my room put on my uniform, shoes, and socks, then ran to the kitchen got my lunch then sneaked quietly but quickly out of the house. "Oops I forgot to say bye to Mum" "BYE MUM" I yelled.
Quickly walking up the street and to school I was still thinking about that 1 article. After 20 minutes I finally got to school, I was completely exhausted though and felt lazy. During class time I couldn't finish off my work and couldn't think. I was glad when it came to morning tea time, I then told my friends about what happened and they didn't believe me. I had no idea why they didn't understand, and thought to myself "I don't think they read the newspaper".
The day after that they had read the newspaper and finally understood, "someone needs to do something about this" all my friends said. "Yes" I replied. When the next newspaper came it had all of the infomation and said "the police are involved and is checking out where these people are". But at the bottom there was an extra story that said they had found the missing people. They were stuck on an island with no boat no food absoloutly nothing. Luckily one of their team mates had said to the police that they had planned to go to some island way in the far atlantic ocean. It took them a long time to find them but eventually they did.

Frogs

I’m thinking of a commonly found amphibian, can you guess what it is? If you thought of a Frog, that’s the creature that I’m going to tell you about.
Amphibians are creatures that live both in water, and on land. These creatures are members of the zoological class called Amphibia or Amphibians. Like all Frogs are cold blooded.
Because frogs are Amphibians, they are commonly found in ponds, swamps or slow moving water. Under mossy rocks, logs or on the forest floor is where you can possibly find some of these water loving creatures. If they live in dry areas, their skin will dry up and they will sadly die.
Can you guess what a frog's skin and body looks like? Its skin feels really smooth and moist, on the other hand it has a short and stubby body. No neck is what a frog has. These creatures have long legs to help them jump really far.
A frog has webbed feet to help it swim. Their very good and interesting eyes can look up, down, sideways and ahead all at the same time. A frog's tongue is really sticky, that’s because when its trying to catch its prey, its sticky tongue catches it, then eats it .
When tadpoles are born they are Herbivores, that means they only eat plants and algae. After they grow into a froglet or a frog they become a carnival. Eating insects is what they eat.
In Winter frogs hide in little places to keep warm. Sleeping in the winter season is what they do. They hide in cracks, logs, rocks and burrows.
A lifecycle of a frog starts off with a female frog and a male frog mating. After that the female frog lays its eggs in the water then, after a couple of days the eggs hatch into newly born tadpoles. About 6 to 9 weeks later the tadpoles start to grow legs. By 12 weeks the tadpole turns into a froglet, which is a frog but still has a little tail.
By between 12 to 16 weeks, depending on how much food it ate, It turns into a frog. Then the frogs will start the whole process again.
Snakes, hedgehogs, snakes, turtles, lizards and birds are frogs enemies. These creatures eat frogs. If they see frogs around they would eat them.

Fabulous Camp

Can you guess how many tents were set up on Point England school’s field? If you guessed 56 you are right indeed. Approximately 165 kids came to the year 5, 6 camp at Point England school.
The part that I was most looking forward to was swimming, but guess what that wasn’t what I was really looking forward to. I was actually looking forward to kayaking. I really
enjoyed it, this was my first time going on a single kayak it was ENJOYABLE!
One incident that Raeleen, Kaycee and I thought that was really funny, was when someone kept on farting. One of the teachers said to a student “shh do you want to run around the field 10 times”. It was hilarious.
My goal for camp was to be brave when I'm on a kayak, I had a bad feeling about kayaking. Do you think I achieved my goal? I think I did!
I felt so happy when camp was over because, I wanted to sleep on something comfortable. I don't like sleeping on something that is hard and, harms my back.

Kayaking
Can you guess what my favorite activity was at camp? Well if you guessed kayaking you are right.I like kayaking because I recon it is fun, Dhara and I was on the same kayak until, Mr Burt said that we had to go on a single kayak. When I first went on the single kayak I was panicking, I thought that I was going fall into the water.
Suddenly I said to myself " this is actually fun". So I kept on paddling and paddling until I had to hop off the kayak. I didn't want to leave but, we had to.

Thursday

Thursday a relaxing day. Just doing normal stuff that we do, like reading, writing and maths. Its really cool.
After school I got home then sat down on my bed. I was so tired that I fell asleep, even though I didn’t really have a big day. Normally I get home and play or read or even do some maths but I didn’t.

Wednesday

On Wednesday morning it was totally different. We had to go to Cricket. For me it was a little bit boring and not that exciting, we were practicing the pool ball trick, I really liked it.
We normally have I.C.T and music. But.... with all the test going on its been really really BORING! We couldn’t even go to I.C.T and music.

A Week In The Life Of Taeshell A Year 6 Student

Every Monday morning I wake up at 6.30am or 7.00am, I’m always waking up feeling half asleep. I get up, get changed and have breakfast, by the time I finish my breakfast it’s time to walk to school. As soon as my sisters and I get there the second bell rings. At class (room 17) normally our first subject is writing, then reading and then the bell rings for morning tea.
After morning tea we have quick 20, then we go to the Library, we have to get 2 book’s (one to read at school and one to read at home). When we come back from the Library we have lunch, for most people lunch is their favourite thing at school. After playing and eating we finish off our work that we couldn’t finish before morning tea time, when we finish that we sometimes have a little game just before home-time.

My Maths Goal
My Maths goal for week 5 is to learn all of my 6 and 7 time tables. By trying to achieve this goal I will need to practice at home, and also during school.
Fantastic School Picnic

Can you guess who would take over 600 kids from Point England school to a picnic? Well, Point Englands principle Mr Burt would. We were lucky enough to have such helpful parents.
When we got to the reserve I dumped my bag on the tarpaulin, then dashed to the beach. I saw my friend Saadiya and we started collecting shells. I found some very nice shells, and so did Saadiya.
After all of that walking I decided to go and relax. I grabbed my bag then sat down underneath a shady tree. I was really thirsty.
At 2’o clock lots of tired but happy children travelled back to school. The picnic was such a remarkable place to spend most of the day.

The Holidays
Would you want to know what I am looking forward to be doing in the holidays? In the holidays I am going to stay up as late as I can, and draw heaps of designs on a piece of paper. I would also want to jump in my pool and stay in the pool until night time. I am looking forward to be getting more games for our computer. The game that we have got is called 101 Block Buster Games. This game has 101 games on it and my best one is call Little Bombers Returns.

My Brilliant RWC Logo
I like my 2011 logo because it it represents fastness and, it also represents The All Blacks. First I got my Net-book out and searched on Internet for some ideas. I went to Maori patterns and I saw a very fascinating Pattern.
I grabbed my paper and started drawing it, it was a bit hard but I kept on drawing. The reason why I had chosen that pattern was because I think it was worth drawing it. When I had finished drawing that pattern I had to look for a RWC logo, so I searched it up on Internet and I found one that was magnificent.
So I started to draw it and it turned out perfect. When I had finished that I had to go over the out-line with Indian ink.
I had to use the back of the paint-brush so that the Indian ink wont get all over the place. Finally I finished going over my stunning pattern with Indian ink, I was so proud of my self. Just then I got to paint my pattern with beautiful colors.
The beautiful colors that I painted on stunning pattern were Green, Blue, Yellow and Red. I done the boarder dark Red. When I look at my pattern now it looks so brilliant.
What I like about my pattern is that it is strong and powerful.

Spectacular New Zealand
The Rugby world Cup is bringing lots of tourists to New Zealand, but there is more here than just a cup! The first people to arrive at New Zealand were the Maori people. People in New Zealand are special because, we are all multi-cultural.
There are unique animals in New Zealand. There are Tuatara’s, Fantail’s, Kiwi’s and Pukeko’s.
So if you are here to see some of the 48 World Cup Rugby games, remember to also take time out to inspect more of our stunning country.
Mesmerising Australia
It’s only a short hop skip and a jump across the Tasman Sea to Australia, but there is a world of difference in what you will find there. Some people in Australia are multi-cultural. The first people that arrived in Australia were the Aborigine people, who are the Indigenous people of Australia.
Koala’s, Kangaroo’s and platypuses are unique animals to Australia. These animals are native to Australia. If you wanted to see a Platypus you would have to go to Australia.
The Climate in Australia is predominantly arid. Australia’s coast is tropical and very warm, it is also humid. Australia is near the equator.
So if you are fortunate enough to make the journey, you will need to allow plenty of time to explore all that Australia has to offer.

Snowmen
In Dunedin People made snowmen. They put their scarfs, hats and gloves on their snowmen. They also put carrots for the nose and buttons for the eyes. Other people didn't make one or even two. But some made three or even more snowmen. Mostly people make them in a flat place so they don’t fall over on the cold and soft snow.
