Octagons Mult/Div Yr 7-3 Dividing Large Numbers With Remainders


This is my maths activity that I completed. WALT: Divide large numbers with remainders.












Set 1:

a) 146 divided by 4=
120 divided by 4= 30
26 divided by 4= 6 r2
Total= 36 r2

b) 138 divided by 5=
100 divided by 5= 20
38 divided by 5= 7 r3
Total= 27 r3

c) 95 divided by 3=
90 divided by 3= 30
5 divided by 3= 1 r2
Total=  31 r2

d) 128 divided by 6=
120 divided by 6=20
28 divided by 6= 4 r4
Total= 24 r4

e) 158 divided by 7=
140 divided by 7=20
18 divided by 7= 2 r4
Total= 22 r4

f) 170 divided by 8=
160 divided by 8= 20
10 divided by 8= 1 r2
Total= 21 r2


















Set 2:

a) 131 divided by 3= 43 r2
b) 107 divided by 9= 11 r8
c) 85 divided by 6= 14 r1
d) 224 divided by 5= 44 r4
e) 114 divided by 8= 14 r2
f) 556 divided by 5= 111 r1
g) 73 divided by 2= 37 r1
h) 97 divided by 3= 32 r1
i) 113 divided by 4= 28 r1











Set 3: Word Problems

a) A sports shop has 87 basketballs, which they want to pack evenly into 5 boxes. How many basketballs should they put in each box? They would put 17 in each box
b)How many would be left over? 2

c) 83 people are going to a school camp. Students need to be in tent groups of 4. How many four person tent groups can they make? They can make 20
d) How many people are left over? 3

e) A company has 113 tanks of water to deliver. If they deliver 4 tanks to each office they visit, how many offices can they visit? 28
f) How many tanks do they have left over? 1

g) Apart shop has 127 balloons. They sell them in packs of 5. How many packs can they sell? 25 packets
h) How many balloons do they have left over? 2 balloons

i) A stationery company has 98 pairs of scissors. They sell the scissors in packs of 3. How many packs can they make? 32 packs
j) How many scissors do they have left over? 2

k) A clothing company has 213 buttons. It takes 7 buttons to make a shirt. How many shirts can they make? 30 shirts
l) How many buttons do they have left over? 3 buttons

m) A school is selling 85 lollipops. If they sell the lollipops in packs of 6. How many packs of lollipops do they have to sell? 14 packets
n) How many lollipops do they have left over? 1 lollipop

o) A school purchase 128 laptops. They have 6 classrooms and they want to put the same amount of laptops in each room. What is the maximum number of laptops they can have in each room? 21 laptops
p) How many laptops do they have left over? 2
